What Changed?
The 2026 Primary One registration process became active from 30 June 2026, with parents using the online portal to register according to their eligible phase. MOE also stated that P1 intake will be gradually reduced for most primary schools starting from this registration exercise, while continuing to maintain enough places nationally and regionally.
Old System vs New System
Before the opening of this exercise, families could prepare using published eligibility information and past vacancy data, but registration for the 2027 Primary One cohort had not yet started. Primary school intakes were adjusted periodically, but the broader multi-year reduction in response to smaller birth cohorts had not yet begun through the current P1 registration cycle.
From 30 June 2026, eligible parents can submit registration through the P1 Registration Portal, view eligible phases and schools, and monitor vacancy and balloting information during the exercise.
