The Education Quality Agency published Chile’s 2026 national assessment calendar after the National Education Council approved an adjustment to the National and International Evaluations Plan. The calendar adds the census-based Impulso Lector assessment for 2nd grade and removes some previously expected 2026 applications.

What Changed?

Chile will apply Simce Language and Mathematics in 4th and 6th grade and 2nd year of secondary education, together with Quality and Context Questionnaires. It will also apply the new Impulso Lector assessment for 2nd grade, while Simce Science in 6th grade and the sample English assessment in 8th grade will not be applied in 2026.

Old System vs New System

Before

The previous 2026 evaluation planning did not publicly set this adjusted combination of applied and non-applied national assessments, and did not include the first application of Impulso Lector for 2nd grade under this calendar.

After

The adjusted calendar defines the 2026 Simce application dates and introduces Impulso Lector as a two-day census assessment for early reading skills in 2nd grade.
