The German-speaking Community adopted the 2026 education and training measures decree. The decree updates teacher-title recognition, staff classifications and several school staff roles.
What Changed?
The decree recognises the French Community’s new teacher-training master sections for use in the German-speaking Community, creates a teaching office for general education courses in special secondary education and updates staff-role rules for middle managers, logisticians and bus drivers. It also adjusts classification for master and companion qualifications used in education staffing.
Old System vs New System
Teacher-title references and some school staff roles were based on older qualification structures and did not fully reflect the French Community teacher-training reform or the new school-role needs identified by the German-speaking Community.
From September 2026, the updated qualification references and staff-role rules apply, giving schools clearer legal bases for appointments and classification in the affected roles.
