Alberta and Canada continued expanding school food supports through the National School Food Program funding agreement. Alberta’s school nutrition program supports daily nutritious meals for participating students.
Nova Scotia announced that its School Lunch Program will expand to all public schools in the 2026-27 school year. The final phase adds high schools and will make the program available in 372 public schools.
New Brunswick announced that a provincewide pay-what-you-can school lunch program will begin in September 2026. The program will cover public school students and include full subsidies for families unable to pay.
